The UC Davis geotechnical group is hosting a one-day Symposium in Honor of I. M. Idriss on the UCDavis Campus, June 17, 2016. The program will include lectures by nine close friends and valued colleagues: J. M. Duncan, J. K. Mitchell, T. D. O’Rourke, K. H. Stokoe, R. Dobry, J. D. Bray, L. H. Mejia, N. Abrahamson, and R. W. Boulanger.

The ASCE Student 2016 Pacific Southwest Conference (PSWC2016) will be held at Cal State Long Beach this year and the student organizers are looking for professional engineers to serve as judges. The events will be held on March 31st – April 2nd, and there are many different events you could volunteer for. The LA Geo-Institute Chapter of ASCE is pleased to announce our intent to award two students with scholarships for the Fall of 2016 school year. The scholarships are directed to undergraduate seniors planning to enroll in a graduate-level geotechnical program in Fall 2016 and continuing graduate students. The scholarships are intended to encourage entry of accomplished students into the geotechnical profession. The selected individuals will have demonstrated a strong growth potential in geotechnical engineering as well as outstanding achievements in their school(s) and community.
